St. Patrick's Day Fun!

Fourth and Fifth graders were determined to trap some leprechauns for St. Patrick's Day! We spend Monday afternoon building traps in hopes of getting one. When we came into the classroom on Tuesday we found a HUGE mess and a note from the head leprechaun telling us that we almost caught his cousin. SO CLOSE! Here are some pictures with what the leprechauns left us.

I thought these were bow ties, but clearly I was wrong! Jayden and Thomas with their best model glares :)

Eddie and Thomas rocking their "bow ties."

Lots of pictures of these two, but they were up for some more Cornwall's Top Model!

Jayden looking SO festive!!

Jack looking quite leprechaun-like with all of his green attire!

These bow ties look so sharp, especially when worn around the neck or eyes.

Natasha and Jayden looking lovely. Eddie, are you trying to sneak into their picture??

There are no words to capture this one :)

Lily!

Julia and Eddie with their bows and…I'm not sure what else is on Eddie's head.

Julia was kind enough to lend Tuna her bow tie so he could have his picture taken too. It does look good on him!

Abenaki Artifact Museum

Fourth and fifth graders concluded their study of Native American cultures by developing an Abenaki Artifact Museum! Each student researched an artifact, crafted a replica of that artifact, and wrote an artist statement describing important things about it. Statements included what the artifact was used for, who may of used it, and what could be inferred about Abenaki culture based on that item. These artifacts look genuine enough to be at ECHO!

Tammy learning about weapons and hunting tools.

Jayden made an authentic drum!

Eddie made a lacrosse stick!

Jack worked on a statue.

Lily and her cornhusk doll.

Paige made a Wampum Belt.

Natasha carved a post with a family's animal on it.

Thomas made a totem pole.

Naomi sewed a pair of moccasins.

Julia made a birchbark canoe.

Jack made birchbark canoes as well!

Alex made a fishing spear.

Eli crafted an arrow.

Carter made a war club and Ben made a fully functioning snare.
As you can see, the projects were phenomenal!
